POLICY FOR CANDIDATE WITH PARTICULAR ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENT AND REASONABLE ADJUSTMENT

While access to our awards should be as open as possible, it is not in the interest of the individual for the college to encourage unrealistic candidate expectations or set unattainable goals.

The centre will ensure that their recruitment process is conducted with integrity. We will ensure that learners have the correct information and advice on their selected qualifications and that the qualifications will meet their needs. The recruitment process would include the assessment of each potential learner and making justifiable and professional judgments about the learner’s potential to successfully complete the assessment and achieve the qualification.

Such assessment must identify, where appropriate, the support that will be made available to the learner to facilitate access to the assessment.

Reasonable adjustment arrangements can be made for candidates with particular requirements if they have but not restricted to:

• a permanent or long-term disability or learning difficulty
• a temporary disability, illness or indisposition

These arrangements are intended to allow candidates to demonstrate their achievement. However, any reasonable adjustment arrangements must not:

• affect the validity or reliability of the assessment
• give the learner(s) in question an unfair advantage over other learners taking the same or similar assessment
• influence the final outcome of the assessment decision

The centre will notify relevant awarding body in writing of any reasonable adjustment arrangements which has been put in place to support candidates.
